McQueen News

February 2005 I have recently had a great phone conversation with Tony who as most of you know was set back by a severe stroke in April of last year. Well, the prognosis for Tony's life at the time of the onslaught was very grim to say the least. I'm happy, no I'm overwhelmed, to report he has made incredible steps on his long road to recovery. Tony is getting around on his own and though he has had to teach himself to be a right hander he has become totally independent and is taking care of himself and his family. Not too bad for a guy when at the time of the stroke was told his chances of ever leaving the hospital and that his loved ones should make final arrangements, is up and around and thumbing his nose at the medical profession. Nothing short of a miracle they kept saying. Thank god for miracles because if it were up to some of the specialists at Kelowna General, Tony wouldn't be with us today. It's always good to get a second opinion when it comes down to it I guess.

Nevertheless, Tony is up and about and back to his great sense of humour and recovering at an astonishing rate. When we look back on the successes of McQueen we have many fond memories of the great road trips and shows we were able to play over the years. Tony, although at this time may not be able to perform with the band I don't think anyone should rule him out of the picture as I understand he has picked up his guitar and is beginning to learn to play it all over again.

With the band heading into it's nineteenth year the group is excited to welcome Doug Thorsteinson back into the ranks. This just got Tony all fired up and maybe we'll be seeing Tony back into the fold sooner than you think. If you would like to contact Tony you can get a message to him right here on our website.

Once again we'd like to thank all of those players and industry people who helped out with the fund raiser at Gabby's, the support from the entertainment community was overwhelming. Thanks BCCMA for jumping in, the true colours of the people and that organization truly shined!!! Thanks !!

Our tour season is begining soon and we will be updating this site with a little more effort as Tony is redesigning and managing it More to follow please feel free to contact us and let us know how your doing.

See you in Merritt and Calgary, times and dates to follow.

Ron McQueen.
